Hearths

A Hearth is an essential component of many stove installations because Building Regulations require the area bellow and in front of a stove to be made of or be covered by a fully non-combustible material. If the area bellow and in front of a stove are not bare stone, brick, or concrete or in the future will be covered by a combustible material such as wood, laminate, carpet, or vinyl, a non-combustible Hearth must be installed.

Building Regulations stipulate the composition of the Heath, how it should be installed and its minimum dimensions. The acceptable dimensions are calculated based on the type of Hearth, the stove manufacturer’s guidelines and the design of the fireplace. If Building Regulations are not fully complied with when your stove is installed, the installation cannot receive HETAS or OFTEC certification and your home insurance could be invalidated.

The safest and easiest way to ensure Building Regulations are complied with and your stove receives and maintains its HETAS or OFTEC certification is to allow us to supply your Heath and our HETAS and OFTEC registered engineers to install your Hearth when they install your stove.
